Well, I think we got off to a great start for the new MKCA season with Eugenia Zukerman, Sophie Shao, and Jessica Lee. It reminded me again how lucky we are to get such amazing and gifted musicians to play for us. The music was interesting and passionately played, and Eugenia's introductions were informative and fun. It was also wonderful to talk with and get to know these ladies a bit at the post-concert reception. Thanks again to Maren Hexter for her hospitality and to Christine Bounous for the scrumptious goodies. There are a few photos on our "Photo Album" page (see site map above).
Our next concert is on April 22, 2012 at 3PM featuring the Alexander Quartet. We are fortunate that Terry and Jerry Feldman of Bedford Hills of have agreed to host the concert in their beautiful and spacious home. In addition to the music, we will have some dramatic readings of letters from the composers so it should be very special! Directions to the home will be sent to subscribers shortly. I'll see you there!
On another note, we all enjoyed our concert with the Duo Parnas this past March. We were all enthralled by not only the exceptional playing of these two sisters, Madalyn and Cicely, but also by their poise at such young ages. We just heard some exciting news from Madalyn. First, Cicely is Performance Today's "Young Artist in Residence". There will be performances and interviews with Fred Child on the program "Performance Today" every day next week! Here is the link with more information and a list of stations so you can find the time and station in your location.

At the same time, Madalyn has been awarded a Marshall Scholarship, which funds all living and educational expenses while she completes a Masters degree in Violin Performance at a school of her choice, which will be the Royal Academy of Music in London! Only 36 American students from across all fields of study were chosen for this most prestigious award!

We congratulate both young ladies and wish them the best of luck. We look forward to having them play for us again sometime in the future. To learn more about them and their music, visit their website at: http://www.parnasmusic.com/index.html

REMINDER that our first concert of the season is coming up on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at 3 PM featuring Eugenia Zukerman and Friends.
ALSO, the Music Conservatory of Westchester's recent concert featuring the Salome Chamber Orchestra with David Aaron Carpenter was spectacular! Those of our subscribers who attended were thrilled by the choice of music and the great musicianship demonstrated by these wonderful young musicians. Guest violist David Aaron Carpenter was outstanding. He has recently won some prestigious awards and we expect to hear great things about him in the future.

May 10, 2011:
Our last concert of this past season was absolutely wonderful! It showcased Four Stars From the NY Philharmonic, including Mindy Kaufman on flute, Sheryl Staples on violin, Maria Kitsopoulis on cello, and Robert Rinehart on viola. The musical program included a variety of combinations of instruments with pieces by Haydn, Beethoven, Villa-Lobos and Mozart and it was great fun! We also had a beautiful spring day and got to enjoy the magnificent home of our hosts, Ed and Carmen Gulbenkian of Pound Ridge. Our post-concert reception was held outside and we got the chance to personally meet and talk with the artists.
