What an exciting and enjoyable program we had with The Harlem String Quartet.  Not only did we get an amazing performance of Schbert's "Death and the Maiden" quartet, but we also heard a wonderfully entertaining version of Billy Strayhorn's jazz classic  "Take the A Train" and some inventive jazz pieces by Chick Corea.  The members of the group were enthusiastic and gave informative and amusing anectdotes about taking on the jazz pieces.  They were also warm and friendly people that we enjoyed getting to know at the reception.  We thoroughly enjoyed the whole afternoon.

As mentioned at the concert, we are closing in on our schedule for next season.  We will subscribers by email when we finalize it, which should be soon.  As is our policy, we will ask our current subscribers if they would like to renew before opening up subscriptions to our waiting list.  If you would like to be added to that waiting list, please email Tom Glum at trgconsulting@optonline.net.

Cheers and have a great summer!

What an exciting concert Alessio Bax gave us on the piano yesterday!  The music was varied and interesting and it was played with such skill and enthusiasm.  This young Italian pianist is clearly going places and we hope to have him back in the future.  Thanks again to Ed and Carmen Gulbenkian for making their beautiful home available.  Now we settle in for the winter before our last concert of the season on April 21, 2013 featuring the Harlem String Quartet.

The concert yesterday with the Adaskin String Quartet with clarinetist Pascal Archer was a great success despite the challenges of the storm and the fact that many people were still without power.  The music was wonderful and we were especially thankful for the comfort food that our post-concert reception provided to us.  Thanks to hosts Clare Sherwood and Henry Cohn for being willing despite the turmoil from the storm.

The much anticipated return of The Eroica Trio was a great success!  The three lovely ladies gave us another exciting concert, reinforcing our subscribers' views that they are one of the best groups that have ever played for us.

The Alexander Quartet was fantastic!  We were treated to virtuostic playing of a wonderfull program.  This was made all the more special by some dramatic readings of letters from the composers and the lovely home of Terry and Jerry Feldman.  The reception was marked by delicious food and good conversation with all four of these warm and friendly musicians and our subscribers.  We will definitely invite them back in the future.
